Chief Atahm School is a parent-operated school with decision-making responsibilities given to the collective. Staff, parents and elders work together to offer the best program possible that adheres to our school’s vision and philosophy.
The school offers the following immersion programs: a language nest, a nursery/kindergarten program and a primary program from grades 1 to 3. In addition the staff assist in developing curriculum to help maintain a quality educational experience.
Our language nest is based on the models provided by the Maori “Te Kohanga Reo” and the Hawaiian “Punano Leo”. We offer a 3 day a week language immersion program for the very young. Our program has been in existence since 1987.
All courses are delivered in the Secwepemc language. Our nursery to grade three program offers the full range of core content courses such as math, language arts, science, and socials all taught. These are complimented by additional language and cultural experiences. We work hard to maintain the curricular support necessary for the growth and development of a strong healthy nation.
